YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing website which allows users to locate existing videos as well as upload their own. There is an amazing amount of instructional material including an Education section. http://www.youtube.com/education?b=400

You cannot legally download YouTube videos as it breaches policy however you can show them anywhere, link to them and embed them into Learning Management Systems, so that the learner does not have to leave the secure environment to view the video. This does not breach any copyright and many educators and trainers use this method to provide engaging materials to balance text-based content.

Teacher Tube

It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers. As well, it is a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill. TeacherTube community members are a major part of the evolution of the site. Members are encouraged to not only upload educationally relevant videos, but also to make constructive comments and use the rating system to show appreciation for videos of value to one as an educator or learner.

National Library Week

Great time to visit your library!  Check out (pun intended) all the cool, free stuff available.  This week we have a "What do you geek?" graffiti wall for people to write on.  Check out a book and get a coupon for a free Chick-Fil-A sandwich (Thanks to our great, supportive locals).  Two Georgia authors visiting on April 17, 2013 at 2:30 in OTC Auditorium.

What is your library doing?

Lots has been happening.

The library continues to change.  We've added the OCLC WMS (library system).  First technical college in the WORLD!  Loving it!

We've added 800 more square feet to the library.  New addition to open in 3 weeks.

We've added Films on Demand this year to our catalog and GALILEO.

We are working on LibGuides for each program.

New Look in the Library

Today is a wonderful day! However, you knew there was a catch, right?, I can't get into my library. They are putting in new carpet. I only have this laptop- no phone, no fax, no printer, no copier. Back to the days of simplicity- well, almost. What would I be doing without the laptop? Probably going through files or reading! Haven't had much time for reading lately. Am working my way through The Third Crystal, kind of a paranormal/mystery type book. Not my usual read but it is keeping me interested.

I'll post pictures once we get everything all done- suppose to get new furniture also. That will take about 6 months!

Well, better get back to work.
